If you are looking to sell courses online or offer instruction in a digital format through your WordPress (and Oxygen Builder) website, you may have heard of Tutor LMS. This review takes a close look at the features, usability and pricing --- and is created by a company that actually uses the product.

Tutor LMS is a standalone learning management system, but it has native integration to the Oxygen Builder. What this means is that it adds elements specific to it's unique functionality, which you can then easily insert into your canvas when utilizing the page builder.

In this article, we are going to take a look at what Tutor LMS and Oxygen Builder actually have to offer, and what can be built when using them together. This is more of a review than a tutorial, so you should get a good understanding of how these two plugins work together.

Of course, the advertisement is that it is a native integration, so we had to test it out for ourselves.

For this review, we got the Tutor LMS premium version, and Oxygen Builder. we installed them on the website, and used it to grab the following screenshots. but first, let's take a look at the features, pricing, developer behind the product, and more to figure out if this is a good way to create a courses/educational website with Oxygen Builder and WordPress.

TutorLMS Features

This plugin offers a complete solution to selling courses and educational content on line. It can also be used by companies for employee education, or as a way to offer personalized content to subscribers (free or paid).

There are several features such as an advanced quiz builder and the ability to add multiple instructors teaching different topics at once. With this tool you can offer video and written educational content, and quiz the students or subscribers to track their progress. Different lessons can be assigned to different instructors, and interactions can happen directly through the platform.

And, keep in mind that this isn't just a tool to sell an individual course online through word press, you can even create complete marketplaces (ie build Udemy on WordPress) and offer product education.

Basically, if you took everything that happened in a real world classroom, and transformed it into a digital product, you would end up with Tutor LMS.

If you are trying to monetize your courses in education, there's direct integration with popular ecommerce plugins like WooCommerce. You can add shopping cards, one time purchases, lifetime access, and subscription models. On the back end, you can then view reports and analytics, and allocate earnings and commissions to individual instructors or the company as a whole.

Additionally, the company offers several well designed themes to make it easy to get up and running if you are not using Oxygen Builder, and a native integration if you are. We're going to discuss that native integration in more depth below, as we use Oxygen Builder for all of our websites, and wanted to see how this works.

But, if you are using WordPress by itself with maybe another page builder theme, this is completely compatible because it can be inserted via shortcodes, or use its own custom themes.

In addition to simply selling courses online and managing various lessons, there are a ton of other features that come with this tool. Specific add-ons include course prerequisites and content drips to There are a ton of add-ons and additional features that separated from just another plugin designed to help you sell courses on line. For example, you can release content in a drip, creating a learning path. This allows you to create a pace at which the student learns about a topic, and mirrors in person education.

You can easily generate certificates, access attachments, manage gradebooks, and have pretty much anything you need for a modern E learning experience directly at your fingertips.

And, this platform will integrate with existing plugins that multiply the power and functionality. For example, it will work with most major form plugins, integrate directly with easy digital downloads, work with MailChimp email marketing, allow you to create advanced custom fields with that plugin, and more.

We have not tested this out, but if you're in an educational setting, the Google classroom add-on may be really helpful. You can share classroom posts and other post directly within the LMS page. You can also integrate natively with zoom, allowing you to host on line classes directly from the lesson page. This offers a completely white labeled experience when it comes to online education.

If you're looking to create a community around your content, using the Buddypress add-on allows you to do just that, and if you would like to create a membership community, using restrict content pro allows you to sell sitewide memberships, and offer courses alongside that.

When it comes to education and flexibility, you can't get much better than Tutor LMS.

Backend Usability

When taking a look at a learning management system for WordPress, you need to consider the front end usability for the students, the back end usability for the administrators, as well as the platform that the course creators an instructors use.

Depending on this implementation, you need an easy to use platform for three individual classes of people. And, many of these may not be technically savvy, so having a well designed interface is a must. After we installed this plugin to review it, we took a couple of screenshots that should give you a good overview of how the back end is designed.

Because this platform is so extensive, we can't cover every single back end user interface, but if you try out the demo you will be able to see that virtually any aspect of the front end lessons, quizzes, and courses can be edited on the back end via custom fields.

The quiz builder, as advertised, is incredibly powerful but also allows you to create complex inputs very simply.

Here you can see the course builder, where you can re order various lessons, quizzes, and topics by simply dragging and dropping. This is the main interface that instructors will probably be using, and it's designed to be really easy to understand, even if you have no prior knowledge or experience with WordPress.

Throughout the back end builder, there's a heavy emphasis on video content, and you can self host the video, or insert Vimeo, YouTube, or any other iframe video host application. This makes a lot of sense, because pretty much all online courses include at least some video content.

In our opinion, pretty much anybody can use it from a young student to a instructor with no prior experience in the e-learning arena. As an administrator, we get access to a ton of different tools including those deep integrations with powerful platforms like advanced custom fields.

TutorLMS Pricing

Pricing for a single TutorLMS license comes in at 149 dollars, 85 license pad costs $199, and unlimited licenses cost $299. This is a fairly expensive plugin, but considering what it offers, the integrations that it has, and the fact that it natively adds elements to the Oxygen Builder, means that these prices are reasonable. And, when we compare it to competitors, we can see similar pricing across the industry.

A really welcome sight is the lifetime licenses that they have to offer period of course, this is a lot more expensive than the standard annual license, but if you're looking to implement a solid learning management system platform in a WordPress website, and you know it will generate you income for years, the lifetime license makes a lot of sense. And, many companies don't offer this, so we're glad to see it here.

It's also great to see that they offer a 30 day money back guarantee, meaning that you can try it out on any of your WordPress websites during this., and if it doesn't work for you, you can simply refund it. All of the refunds are processed within 48 hours.

And, for those who purchase the Tutor LMS plugin for good, there's no auto renewal so you won't be surprised by a large charge in a year.

The Company Behind The Product

We always like taking a look at the company and developers behind the product, because if you partner with the wrong group, you'll end up with poor support and limited updates. In this case, the company behind the product is called Themeum. they are an extremely reputable collection of developers, and we have used their products since our inception as an agency.

Needless to say, it's a great company that offers great support, generous refund policies, and continuously updates their products to ensure that they are the best they can possibly be. they also offer several additional plugins that we really enjoy using on some projects, primarily the WP Mega Menu offering.

Also, one more thing to note is that they offer a 30% discount for nonprofits, so they actually care about making a difference through education, something that's really nice to see.

TutorLMS Native Oxygen Builder Integration

First, to get it to work you simply need to install a free add-on plugin from the WordPress repository called Oxygen Tutor LMS.

By itself, this is a good looking product, but what makes it even more appealing to us is the native integration to the Oxygen Builder. Let's take a look at how this actually works to see if this truly is all that it says it is.

The primary thing this allows us to do is use the templating system that ships with the Oxygen Builder, creating custom layouts for our courses, lessons, quizzes, and additional post types.

When creating a template, we can make one for the courses, lessons, quizzes, topics, assignments, and the tutor enrolled a message.

We can see in the back end editor that we now have a Tutor LMS tab, which contains a ton of elements specific to that plugin. And honestly, we're really surprised in regards to how extensive this library of elements is:

It essentially allows us to insert any aspect of the Tutor LMS pro plugin directly into the Oxygen Builder, and then use the native styling and advanced features that can be manipulated from the back end Oxygen editor to change the appearance.

When inserting complete page templates, you can see that we can edit all aspects of it, similarly to the WooCommerce add-ons that come with the official Oxygen WooCommerce plugin. And, every element that is inserted into the Oxygen Builder is completely formatted , and ready to go.

In our opinion, this native integration with the builder makes this LMS the only option for somebody using Oxygen. It's really easy to add, and with the native elements building out specific templates is super quick and simple.

Worth The Purchase?

The native integration with the Oxygen Builder, makes this really the only option for users of that page builder, increasing the value even more. Because our agency primarily uses that page builder, this is the only tool that we use to create elearning websites for companies, schools, and individuals attempting to sell courses on line. The combination of Oxygen and Tutor LMS is next level, and allows us to create high performance course selling websites with ease. Pretty cool.

Conclusion

To conclude our review on the Tutor LMS plugin, this is a great offering for those interested in selling any type of educational content on line. Additionally, it makes sense for large educational organizations and companies seeking to offer training to their employees.

By making use of their multiple instructors, quiz builder, Easy to understand front end and back end dashboards, user management, simple lesson builder, and integrations to E Commerce platforms, one can easily set up a online educational website using any WordPress theme, or Oxygen Builder itself. We use this tool on many of our projects, so if you have any questions about how it works, feel free to reach out in the comments section below.
